November 20, 1950- July 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our brother David.
David was a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, and a friend.
He lived a life of Service- a life to God, Country, Community and to Family.
David attended St. John's Elementary School where he served as an altar boy on Sundays. One of his first jobs was being a paperboy and rode his bike all over the neighborhood and quickly learned his community. David attended Sunnyside High School and graduated in 1968. He ran track and cross country which helped him when he went into the Army after graduation. He served two tours in Vietnam. David returned home to Tucson and became a postal worker and delivered mail to the community that he knew best. David entered the Tucson Police Academy and served over 20 years keeping the community safe. David kept the students safe while he worked as a security guard at ASDB. He loved his family and was always the most thoughtful and caring brother. He and his parents opened a store and he created jewelry, a craft he learned and loved while he was overseas.
David is survived by his son, David Jr. sisters - Marty Moreno, Yolanda Herrera, Rebecca Quintero (Ric), Cecilia Herrera and brother James (Tina).
Committal Service will be at Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Marana located at 15950 N Luckett Rd. on November 6th at 9:00a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association in order to purchase a bench in David’s honor for the Tucson Police Departments new courtyard located at Park and Fair.
