Two of the dearest souls have been reunited. Dennis Leroy Burress passed away from his family after a long battle with kidney disease on June 22, 2021. He was joined by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Alice (Perry) Burress on July 23, 2023. Her ending struggle with dementia was a very hard situation to face for the family. But when she had those moments of clarity it was worth seeing the lovely smile on her face, the stories she used to share with us—even the made up ones!—and the fact that she knew she would be with her “Tiger” again.
When Dennis and Faye met in Cape Cod, Massachusetts years ago, he was a fun, wild and adventurous man who got hit by a door in a restaurant by a dazzling little woman who was rushing around. His friend introduced them later that night; they began a whirlwind courtship of six weeks; and the next thing you knew they were married! Dad became an instant father as mom had three beautiful children from a previous marriage. After a few more years in the Cape area, and a brief trip to Arizona where Dennis’ family resided, the couple decided to make the permanent move to Arizona after the last three girls were born in the Cape. A very tearful farewell to Faye’s family, and the long journey on the road, kept the couple in Arizona for the remainder of their lives.
Some of the greatest moments our parents had were spending time with family and friends. Large family gatherings, birthdays, holidays, trips to the local lakes and camping for the weekend were some of our favorite memories! In the later years, they spent as much time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren that they could. Although distance would keep them apart from the ones not in AZ for a long period of time, mom did get to reunite with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Virginia, Florida and the Cape, and got to meet her newest members of Great-Great-Grandchildren. Although many will not remember that they got held by some of the biggest and warmest arms that could be offered by a grandma and grandpa, we will be sure to share the pictures and memories with them.
Dennis was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Evelyn and Joseph “Art” Choiniere; his brothers, Ralph and Donny Hofferber; Grandparents, Floyd “Fats” and Elsie Harrison; Faye was predeceased by her mother and father, Howard “Jerry” Perry and Dorothy (Magnuson) Perry; her brother, Dennis Perry; her half-brother, Jerry Perry (Darlene); and for both of them, their grandson, Jeffery Burress; and granddaughters, Angela Hall, and Allison Kling-Hall; Brother-In-Law, Harvey Thompson; Nieces, Kathleen (Thompson) Herbert, Tammy Hofferber.
Surviving family is Son, Herbert “Jamie” Lorenzo Hall, III (Betty); Daughter, Gerri Corrine Hall (Leslie Wing); Son, Eric William Hall; Daughters, Laurie Joan Burress; Jennifer Lynn (Burress) Sacks (Chris); Denise Faye Burress (Dean Liles). Sister to Faye, Joan Perry; Sister to Dennis, Jeanette Thompson; and so many loved nieces and nephews.
