Don passed away at his home in Tucson, AZ after a short stent of illness. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana. After his family moved to Tucson in 1948, he attended Amphi High School and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen. He retired from the Navy after twenty years, which included a long tour of duty in Vietnam. In early retirement Don and Delores built their dream home, a log cabin in the Gila Forest of Silver City, NM. After years of hard work finishing his dream home he got to spend thirty years watching and interacting with the wild life in his front yard. He always had a canine companion by his side and leaves behind his current one, Hannah. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He is survived by wife Delores Harvell-Pierce, his son’s (Rick Pierce, Gary and Chris Adkins), Eight Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents Oliver F. Pierce and Doris Montoney-Pierce and one son, Steve Adkins.
Placement will take place in February date to be determined, at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana.
