

Elsie Hoyack, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on May 23, 2021. Born on November 7, 1938 in Murdo, South Dakota, Elsie spent her formative years in South Dakota before moving with her family to San Manuel, AZ just after her high school graduation. Elsie met her husband, Jim Hoyack, while he was stationed in Tucson with the Air Force. They were married on November 25, 1958. Following their wedding, Elsie became a registered nurse in Santa Monica, CA. She worked as an RN for nearly 45 years as her family moved around for Jim's work (Tucson, Pennsylvania, New York, Nevada, and Globe, AZ) always meticulously and generously caring for her patients.
Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her many hobbies included bridge, bowling, cross stitch, and reading. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Odilia Catholic Church for many years, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hoyack and her son, Chuck Hoyack and her sister Mabel (Johnny) Seballos. She is survived by her son Mark (Jeri) Hoyack of Tucson, daughters Sharon (Dom) Scala of Tucson and Terri (Gil Sanchez) Hoyack of Peoria, and daughter-in-law Alvina Hoyack of Douglas; grandchildren, JB (Robyn) Yewell, Kali (Kevin) Rhea, Angie (Blake) Wertz, Caitlin (Toren) Wikberg, Nick Scala, Ryan Hoyack, Stephanie Koeppen, Nikki (Bryson) Buckley, Jessica Koeppen, Casey (Elisa) Hoyack, Quintin Barreto, and Patrick Hoyack; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Vivienne Yewell, Parker and Cooper Rhea, Sadie Wikberg, and one on the way. She is also survived by her 100-year-old mother, Peggy Williams of Tucson; brothers Johnny (Marilyn) Williams of Alabama, and Jimmy (Loretta) Williams of Tucson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass and Funeral services will be held at Funeraria del Angel & South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706 at 1:00 PM on June 5, 2021.
A reception will be held after the services at 806 E Placita de Roberta, Tucson, AZ 85718.
