

Erma Joan Otto was affectionately known by many names. Gerry, Joanie, The Oracle, Iron Maiden, and The Ladybug Queen. The titles Gerry loved the most were Mom and Nana. Gerry was the MOST patient person in the world.
Gerry was the daughter of Hazel Skalla and Reese Arthur. She was born in Denver, Colorado on March 19, 1938 and passed away June 11, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.
Gerry grew up in Denver. She was a 1956 graduate of North High School. In her teens she worked as a ticket attendant and cashier at the local movie theater and played piano at church. She was also a switchboard operator, where she undoubtedly found her gift to “communicate”.
On July 31, 1959, Gerry married Herb Otto. They met in Denver, they were neighbors. Herb and Gerry relocated to Tucson in 1979. Herb’s parents lived in Green Valley.
Gerry was a homemaker for several years before finding her niche at The Tree House Beauty Salon. She became known as The Scheduling Engineer. She made many friends by way of the stylists and clients.
Gerry loved to play Scrabble and won by any means necessary.
Gerry was beautiful, kind, loving, patient, loyal and amazing. Gerry loved unconditionally with support and without judgment. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
Gerry is survived by her husband, Herb Sr. and their children; Herb Jr and his children Jade and Bryce; Brad (Danielle) their children Dominic, Max, Oliver, Penelope and Charlotte; and Amy (David) and her sons Wesley and Evan.
