Esther L Loya

She was more than a mother—she was our heart, our joy, and our safe place. Esther’s smile was the kind that could brighten the darkest room, and her eyes always sparkled with warmth, laughter, and love. Her laugh was absolutely contagious, and her love—so pure and powerful—was truly infectious.

Esther was a devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, loving sister, and an irreplaceable friend to so many. She gave herself fully to those she loved, wrapping us all in the comfort of her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering faith.

She is survived by her children, Stacia Loya, Bryan Loya (wife Michele Loya); her sister Susan Condon (husband Gordon Condon); her brothers James Patrick Greathouse and Mark Greathouse; her adored grandchildren Megan (husband Anthony Gutierrez Jr.), Christopher, Amaya, Caelyn, and Devin; and her precious great-grandchildren Mila, Elijah, and Nathaniel. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Paul and Molly Greathouse, her sister Betty, and her brother Paul, lovingly known as “Brother.”

Esther’s life was one of deep devotion—to her family, to her faith, and to the people whose lives she touched. She had the soul of a worshiper, using her gift of gospel singing to bring others to Jesus—even in her hospital bed, she witnessed to nurses, patients, and anyone who needed a reminder of God’s love. Her courage and joy never wavered, even in pain.

Professionally, Esther had a remarkable career as a national makeup artist for Chanel, where her talent made people feel beautiful on the outside—but it was her spirit, her encouragement, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued that truly made her extraordinary.

We are devastated by the loss of our Mama, our shining light. We weren’t ready to say goodbye to our angel on earth. But we will carry her with us—her laughter, her love, her incredible smile—in everything we do.

Her legacy lives on in every person she inspired, every heart she lifted, and every soul she helped guide home.
