My father was born to Albert Reterstorf (1872-1959) and Elgie Ford Reterstorf (1878-1970) in Comstock Park, Michigan. The family moved to Kent City on 22 Mile Road and Red Pine Drive and Ford went to Birch School to the 8th grade. He worked on his dad's farm and later Imperial Furniture Company- He married Eva Lynn Miller in 1941 and joined the U.S. Army. He went to Leyte, Philippine Islands for the Invasion of Japan. He was a cook in the Army. He became a father on Dec 15, 1946 to Vince Lee Reterstorf and lived in Sparta, Michigan. He later bought a house in Grand Rapids, Michigan and worked at Sunshine Sanatorium and later Butterworth Hospital. He was divorced from Eva Lynn Miller in 1951 and later remarried her in 1955 buying another home in Grand Rapids and then divorced from her in 1957. Ford left Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1959 for Tucson, Arizona and worked at Tucson Medical Center and met Rudene Campbell Walf. They were married in 1960 and bought a home in South Tucson. Ford's son, Vince, came to live with them in 1961. Ford had changed jobs to be Food Service Director at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona until 1970. He later joined ARA Food Service and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to work at a hospital there. Vince moved back to Michigan in 1969. From Albuquerque, Ford was assigned to another hospital by ARA Food Service in Weimer, California for a while and then to Dameron Medical Center in Stockton, California. Ford retired in 1985. Ford traveled to his wife's family around the country until 1993. He moved back to Tucson, Arizona and bought a modular home. He lived there until 2003. His wife Rudene passed away in 1999. Ford had a quad bypass in 2005 and lived at Canyon Crest assisted living in Tucson, Az, then at 100 Palms in Tucson and at Desert Treasure in Tucson. He passed away in 2013. Ford was an active member of the Tucson Baptist Temple and other churches where he lived. He was a very devout Christian and blessed many people. He was a very good father to Vince Lee Reterstorf and to his grandson Eric Ford Reterstorf. Vince moved back to Tucson, Arizona in 1998 to live and be with Ford and Rudene Reterstorf for the rest of their lives and continues to live in Tucson.
