Fresia H. Lopez, a beloved centenarian and lifelong Tucson resident, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 28, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 100. Born on February 10, 1925, in the same city she would call home for a century, Fresia lived a life marked by family, compassion, creativity, and unwavering faith.
A devoted Catholic, Fresia’s deep spiritual connection to the Virgen de Guadalupe and her God was the foundation of her strength throughout her life. She carried herself with grace, always positive, poised, and welcoming to everyone around her.
Fresia dedicated much of her life to service. She worked as a devoted librarian for many years, nurturing a love of reading in others while also immersing herself in literature. Her commitment extended beyond her profession; she was deeply involved in nonprofit work and volunteering efforts throughout Tucson. Always giving back to her community, Fresia touched countless lives with her generosity and warmth.
Her creativity knew no bounds. Known for her beautiful writings and signature rose, a symbol forever tied to her presence, Fresia had a gift for making everyone feel special. She paid attention to the smallest details, personalizing every interaction with care and thoughtfulness. An avid reader and writer, she fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams at the age of 98 by publishing a book of her life stories and poems, a testament to her enduring spirit and determination.
Fresia’s love for fashion was reflected in her fondness for Vogue magazine, which she read with enthusiasm over the years. She also enjoyed challenging herself with crosswords every morning with coffee, always eager to learn something new or solve a puzzle with elegance.
Above all else, Fresia cherished her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane Trujillo (Eddie), sons Mike Lopez (Marylou) and Charlie Lopez; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her siblings Conchita Fotinos, Armida Hann, Richard Huerta and Sister Mary Benedicta.
She now reunites with her beloved husband William V. (Vic) Lopez and daughters Lisa Ramirez and Patti Lopez. Also, she is preceded in death by her parents Alejandro M. Huerta and Julia Vasquez, her sisters Mercedes Rivera, Rowena Huerta, Josephine Herrera, Alice Rivera, and Dolores Carrillo.
Fresia H. Lopez will be remembered not only for what she did, but for how she made people feel loved, seen, inspired. Her heart of gold left an indelible mark on all who knew her, con amor para siempre.
