

Gary Allen Rex, beloved and adored husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, nephew, uncle and friend died at home on Sunday, February 9 after an 18-month battle with glioblastoma multiform; a virulent brain cancer.
The eldest of four children of Lois and George Rex, Gary was born in Tucson, in September of 1954 and was a life-time Tucson resident. Graduating from Catalina High School in 1972, Gary attended Pima Community College before beginning his 30-year law enforcement career, first as an enamored young adult intern with the Tucson Police Department and then as an officer with the Arizona Department of Corrections. In retirement Gary traveled, acted, modeled, refurbished his 1989 Corvette and represented for many southern Arizona wineries.
In March of 1980 Gary married Julie Marie McDevitt. They parented and loved their three children; Jennifer, Sean and Joanna.
Gary happily found love again with Janet McGee. In November 2012, Gary and Janet celebrated with an Elvis-style wedding in Las Vegas, NV, attended by family and friends from far and wide.
Gary is survived by; wife Janet, mother Lois, daughter Jennifer, son Sean, daughter Joanna, and Aunt Sue, all of Tucson, stepdaughter Vanessa (Art) of Pasadena, CA, sister Julie (Tim) of Erie, CO, brother Mark (Kevin) of Windermere, FL, sister Jill (Dan) of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren Ethan and Arizona in addition to numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends.
Gary’s family will celebrate his life well-lived with a memorial on Tuesday, February 25th at 1:00 pm St. Frances de Sales, 1375 S Camino Seco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The National Brain Cancer Society.
