Gary and I were good friends in school but drifted apart when he graduated a yr sooner. In late 07 or early 08 we got back in touch and it was a lot fun talking about old times. Gary talked to one of my sons, who rode bulls, about how the road is. I got him to go to the ropings with me and again it was fun riding together again. If there is bulls in heaven, you can be pretty well assured Gary is in the chute! You'll be missed buddy.

Gary had a huge heart. I remember when I was 13 he would let me tag along with he and his friends. They would put me on the bucking barrel in my bathing suit. He taught me to ride and rope. Once I roped the goat and no one was more surprised than me! I remember also once when we were watching bull riding on TV and we were laughing so hard when a bull named "Toyota" just stopped bucking and the announcer said that "Toyota had run out of gas". We didn't live in the same house for more than 6 or 7 years but I always enjoyed his company and he made me laugh. He was always pulling pranks on everyone. Once my dad and brothers paid him back by taking him snipe hunting. They circled back to the cabin and you could hear him out in the meadow calling "here snipe... here snipe". He was mad as hell once he figured it out. We all laughed till we cried. I love you brother Gary and am happy that you have finely found peace.

Gary, I think I speak for all your brothers in the Church when I say you are sorely missed and will not be forgotten.  Even though we only knew you for a couple short years, we felt of your faith and friendship and your love of God and family.

I know that God was very aware of you personally because I often felt Him reminding me to give you a call or come and visit.  I felt of your great spirit as I had the privilege to go with you to visit Brother Hess as well as your mom when she was not doing well.  I hope to live my life so my heart can be as pure as yours when I am called home.

Gary, You were larger than life, and a positive influence on me in my teen years. Having you part of our family when we lived in Wyoming was a treasure. I remember fondly rabbit hunting and fishing, and getting sick from trying to chew your copenhagen. God Bless, my friend.

Tom, I don't know if you remember me or not. I just wanted to send my deepest sympathies on the loss of your brother Gary. Gosh all these years later I still remember so many things about you guys, all the memories and fun we had. I pray you will feel the comfort of God's arms at this time and always.

Gary was a great friend and I feel like I've lost a brother.  I've had so many great memories of Gary that I can be thankful for.  Our friendship began when I met Gary in the late 70's at Richard Escalante's house during a bull riding event.  He had one of the nicest bull riding styles of anyone I had ever seen and he taught me a lot about riding bulls.  Among the many fun rodeo memories, I also remember when I was his first student as he was working on his Flight Instructor's License.  He was a very patient teacher and he let me fly the plane from Tucson to El Paso.  It was very exciting for me as I'm afraid of heights.  One of the most memorable trips I had ever been on was when Gary, Tom, Willy and I went deep sea fishing in Loreto, Mexico in '84.  That was a lot of fun!  Gary was also one of the funniest people I'd ever known.  He always had a good joke to tell and funny experiences to share.  Gary was one of the most adventurous persons I had ever known too, he always put 110% into anything he ever did.  Besides being an entertaining guy, he was very dedicated to his family.  Hanging around Gary for any amount of time you knew that family came first.  Later in our years, I felt so honored when Gary asked me to be his Best Man at his wedding. Gary, I'm going to miss you!

Garycito: God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we  watched you, and saw you leave. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
