

John Edward Deger, of Tucson, Arizona passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at age 87, due to the effects of the devastating disease of Alzheimer’s. Jack was born February 9, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio to Leon and Ellen Deger. Jack attended the University of Dayton. He married Betty Blake Moore in 1955. His career in the cement business brought them west to Phoenix, AZ in 1959. Jack was a pilot for many years, owning his own plane. In 1967 Jack and his family relocated to California for a short period before returning back to Arizona. In 1972, Jack began building his dream home in Tucson, AZ. Jack was an avid golfer, he was a member of Tucson National Country Club and Oro Valley Country Club, and he was an active member of The Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Tucson Rotary. He is survived by his son Jon K. Deger of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Elizabeth (Cash) Sigler of Kimberly, ID and grandchildren, Lauren and Blake Sigler and Jenna Deger and preceded in death by his wife Betty. Jack was laid to rest on February 12, 2016 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
Jack will be missed by his family and those that remember him fondly before the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Best Friends Sanctuary, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Tucson or the Alzheimer’s Association.
