

John, “Chuck”, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on November 17, 2025 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's. Chuck was born in Delta, Colorado on October 29, 1944, attended Delta High School and graduated from Jefferson High School in Denver. He attended what is now Colorado State University – Pueblo earning a B.A. in psychology, Cleveland State University earning a M.A. in psychopharmacology and completed additional graduate work at Case Western Reserve. Chuck remained in Ohio as an instructor at Lakeland Community College. While teaching at Lakeland, he coauthored a couple psychology textbooks. In 1985 Chuck to Tucson where he met Sherry Baumgart, his partner until his death. Chuck loved horses and worked for a period at dude ranches before returning to teaching at Pima Community College and tutoring at the University of Arizona, which he continued until his death. Chuck was an extremely gifted teacher. Being a prodigious reader, brought depth and color to his classroom. Chuck and Sherry were avid basketball fans and followed the U of A Wildcats throughout the country including multiple trips to the Maui Tournament and Final Fours. Another interest was gardening. Their Tucson home provided an abundant area for his gardening. Chuck is preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Baxter, father John Hallock, stepfather Dave Baxter, stepmother Pauline Hallock, stepbrother Dave, and stepsister Charla. He is survived by his life partner Sherry Baumgart and her two sons John and Mark, all of Tucson, his brother Jim, his wife Linda of Loveland, CO, his stepsister Pat Fedler of Delta, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck’s wit and colorful stories will be missed by all that knew him.
