

“There is a time to weep and a time to laugh.” The family of John Charles Lane, Retired Fire Captain of the Green Valley Fire District, will celebrate his life on Friday, February 11, 2022, with a service at the Evangelical Free Church, 1393 W. Mission Twin Buttes Rd, Green Valley, Arizona 85622.
John Charles Lane, 66, of Tucson, Arizona, went home to assume command on February 2, 2022, with family by his side.
John was born on May 8, 1955, to Theodore and Betty Lane in Concord, California, the youngest of 4 children. He graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1973 and started his fire service career with Rural Metro Fire that same year. John married his best friend Wilma Snyder on February 12, 1977. After a 37-year career in the fire service, John retired from the Green Valley Fire District in 2010.
Together with Wilma by his side for 47 years, John led a rewarding life filled with unending love for their children and grandchildren. John enjoyed traveling throughout the West Coast with his family, and loved spoiling his grandchildren with stories, jokes and gifts that never ended.
John is survived by his wife Wilma, son Stephen (Carrie), daughters Jennifer (Jessalyn) and Erin, and grandchildren Johnathon and Stephene. His sisters, Michal (Richard) of Tucson, Az, Janet (Irv) of Carson City, NV, Patricia (Nels) of Rio Rancho, NM. His nieces, Lisa, Adrienne, Heather, Phoebe, Noelle, Maisy, and nephew Andrew.
John is preceded in death by his parents and grandson David.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in the name of John Lane to the Last Alarm Foundation in Tucson, Az, the Pima County Parklands Foundation (Bike Loop), and/or the Friends of Pima Animal Care Center (PACC).
