John “T.O.” Texas Oscar Peters
August 16, 1942 – October 11, 2025
John “T.O.” Texas Oscar Peters passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, on October 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 16, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, he attended St. John’s Military Academy in Wisconsin in his teen years. John was elated when he and his father moved to Arizona and enrolled in Scottsdale High School as a sophomore. He attended both Arizona State University and University of Arizona. After being drafted into the US Army, he moved to San Francisco, where he worked for a prestigious auction firm, served as president of the American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA), and took over Mr. Z’s Stamp and Coin Shop in Burlingame. After selling the shop, he returned to Arizona with his family and purchased a Pak Mail franchise, where he is fondly remembered by customers to this day.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha, children Ginny, Robert, and Heather, and his grandsons Brady and Aiden. They will always carry his spirit and legacy with them.
Known affectionately as “T.O.” to his friends, John had a sharp wit, a generous heart, and a brilliant mind. Some of his happiest moments were spent hunting with his Scottsdale High friends, especially his lifelong best friend, Jeffrey John Jorgeson, sharing stories, laughter, and memories that spanned decades.
John’s presence filled every room with warmth, humor, and a love for life’s small joys. He found happiness in the details, meaning in friendship, and love in the everyday. He was a dog lover and affectionately told stories of his dogs over the years, especially Bear. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, telling stories, and socializing. A very kind man, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
