Joe passed away on September 30, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born in 1935 in NYC and was a New Yorker at heart all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Joseph F. Messina. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, daughters Sharon Messina and Teresa Messina, son Barry Messina, grandsons Tyler Bezkostny and Christian Messina, and granddaughter Tina Messina and several cousins. After being raised in NYC, he moved to California and became a master of his trade as a machinist and opened his own machine shop. His personal values of meeting commitments, work ethics (which he instilled in his children), and high quality, rewarded him with business clients that lasted his entire career. After achieving his goal of retiring at 50, he spent a few years in California, moving to Arizona in 1998, to be near family and continue enjoying his retirement, which included his favorite things of ballroom dancing, model trains, traveling, and spending time with family; and no, we won’t forget his favorite treat cheese popcorn. We would like to thank all the medical staff that treated and took care of him during his illness, particularly Peppi’s House at TMC hospice, for their loving care and compassion. It gave Joe peace and his family comfort. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, October 11 at the Voyager Resort from 2-5 pm in the Catalina Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Boys and Girls Club, as that was Joe’s favorite place as a child. Joe, you will be missed terribly. Rest in Peace, We love you.
