“Chito”
3/5/1935-3/30/2020
Eternal rest grant upon them O’Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace.
Juan Jesus Frias Sr. “Chito” left peacefully on March 30th to join his parents Juan de Dios and Dolores Frias, his siblings Gilberto Arvisu Villanueva, Magdalena Frias Villanueva, Juana Rosa Vega (Anastancio Ortiz Sanchez), Julio (Margaret) Frias, and Reynaldo Frias, sons Ernesto and Gabriel Frias, and granddaughter Blanca Frias in the Sewa Ania. He is survived by his wife Lupe Frias, sons Juan (Leticia), Ramon (Delia); daughters Dolores (Ruben) Matus, Lupe, and Herminia; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was born in “High Town” Chandler, Arizona. He spent his younger years traveling south to the Yaqui pueblo of Cerro de la Matanza, Hermosillo, Sonora, keeping close connections with his family and helping his mother until her death in 1955. In 1963 he married Lupe Frias, and they had seven children together. He will be remembered as a hardworking, talented mason, and a kind person with a love for roses. He had a “green thumb” for gardening and his roses bloomed vibrantly every Spring. He loved his grandchildren dearly and watching uninterrupted boxing.
Traditional services will be held at Cristo Rey on Monday April 6, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. with a Mass the following morning at 7:00 a.m. It is with a heavy heart and with great concern for the health of the Yaqui Pueblo, that traditional services are being limited to only immediate family members, cultural societies, and God parents. A sympathy guestbook can be signed online. In lieu of attending services, the family asks that you pray two rosaries, one in honor of Juan J. Frias Sr., and the second in honor of the family, cultural societies and God parents for God’s protection and guidance during this unprecedented time.
