LaVerne was a caring person with a passion to help special needs children. She moved to Tucson, AZ, from Chicago, IL, in 1979. LaVerne enjoyed spending time at the RV Park along the Colorado River (Parker Strip). She also enjoyed spending the Christmas holiday with her family. LaVerne is preceded by her late husband, Richard Johnson Sr., and survived by her brothers, Robert Karp, Edward Karp and Buzzy Karp. Her children, Denise (Ernie) Sartorio, Richard (Lisa) Johnson, Torrie (Wayne) Counts, Cheryl (Mike) Rhoades, and Valerie Johnson; her grandchildren, Amber Amari, Jonathon Rhoades, Kylie and Kalen Johnson, Alex Morales, Jeffrey and Jason Brayton, Bryana Leonard, Anthony Sartorio, Matthew Houser, Matt Sartorio, and Andrew Sartorio, and many Great Grandchildren with more on the way.
Memorial services will be held in her honor June 8, 2015, with the viewing beginning at 9:00 and services beginning at 10:00 at the East Lawn Mortuary on Grant Road in Tucson, Arizona.
