

Lilian Eloisa Hanna Manciet, an amazing woman, was released from her earthly duties on July 1, 2012. She was beloved by her husband of 62 years, Hector Manciet; her five children, Lorraine, Eddie, Patty, and Larry (Kathy) Manciet and Katie (Patrick) Frey; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The daughter of Elsa Brockman and Vernon Hanna, Lilian was born in Morenci, Arizona. The family returned to Tucson from Morenci, where her brother Edward "Waggo" was born. They were raised by their mother and her grandparents, Ferdinand and Jesus Brockman. The family home at 420 E. 18th Street still stands.
Lilian attended Safford Elementary and Junior High Schools. In 1944-45, she and a couple of her cousins spent their eighth grade year at St. Anne’s Academy in Victoria, British Columbia. Puggy graduated from Tucson High in 1949. While there, she was a very active in photography and journalism activities, including the Graphic Arts Club, Camera Clickers, and the Quarterly (photo editor). She was also a member the Junior Red Cross, the National Honor Society, and the GAA (Girls Athletic Association).
She will be remembered by all for her uncommon intellect, unique sense of humor, and impeccable comedic timing. Her family will always cherish her ability to love unconditionally, to fill a home with generations of love and laughter, and to grow old but not BE old.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 28 at East Lawn Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
Puggy loved to read, and passed that love of reading on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to remember her visit their local bookstores and purchase a book to read, give to a child, or donate to a school library.
