Louise was born on August 31, 1951, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to her parents George and Eunice Fischer. As the only daughter and middle child, she was the loving sister to older brother David and younger brother Alan. Louise attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Grand Forks before she and her family moved to Tucson in 1965. As a teenager, she enjoyed listening to records and watching the TV show Dark Shadows almost religiously. Louise attended Palo Verde High School where she graduated as a member of the National Honor Society in 1969. After high school, she continued to achieve academic excellence at The University of Arizona where she received numerous awards and Dean’s Honor List recognitions. Louise initially started her college journey to pursue a degree in nursing like her mom and grandmother had, but she soon found that pharmacy was her calling. In 1974, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Pharmacy.
Louise began her career of nearly 43 years as a Registered Pharmacist at Tucson General Hospital in 1975. She truly loved the hospital and all the friends she made there. Louise was often praised by those who worked with her, was named Employee of the Month numerous times, and was selected for the Excellence in Healthcare Award in 1997. She would continue to be an invaluable employee at TGH even after the hospital closed its doors in the fall of 1999. Louise continued her career in pharmacy with Banner University Medicine’s Kino Campus (formerly UPH) until she retired in 2017 to take care of her husband as his health declined. Even after retirement, she would continue to visit the team and surprise them with some of her delicious baked goods and desserts.
Louise met Tom, the love of her life in 1971, and they were married on August 20, 1972, at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. They were later blessed with two children, Brian and Jennifer. As a family, they created countless wonderful memories taking trips to the lake, camping, and fishing. Louise always made holidays and special occasions memorable for her family and friends by cooking and baking treats from her extensive recipe collection. She also enjoyed bowling and played in several different leagues, including one with Tom and her children. Louise had unwavering faith in the Lord and allowed Him to work through her as she provided care and compassion for those around her. She supported and cared for her parents, her brother, and her husband when their health declined and they needed it most. She was an angel on earth- truly the most selfless, supportive, caring, and loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eunice Fischer, and her loving husband of 50 years, Tom. She is survived by her son Brian (Tara), her daughter Jennifer (Chris), her grandchildren Abrielle, Wesley, Makenna, and Ryan, her brothers Alan (Gina) and David (Laura) Fischer, and friends considered family, Ivan Seaton and Stephen Heins. The family wishes to thank Robin at East Lawn Palms for the care and compassion that she has shown us through the loss of both Tom and Louise.
A funeral service will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, located at 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ, 85712, United States. The service is scheduled for December 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
