

Lubomyra Lutz, 87, died peacefully at home on 24 May 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Kazymyr and Elizabeth Bulwan; husband Gregory; son Ihor and daughter Daria; and sister, Myroslava Lischak. She is survived by her sister, Emily Church, in Ohio; her children Ursula Cybulsky (Joseph), Ksenia Lutz, and Orysia Lutz (Bruce McCurdie), her grandson Taras, as well as several nieces, nephews, and grandnephews. Born in Boryslav, Ukraine, Lubomyra and her family emigrated from Ukraine via Germany to the United States. She spoke fluent Ukrainian, Polish, German, and English. Her passions included writing Ukrainian Easter eggs, embroidering, baking, cooking, gardening, sewing, and singing. Her church and Ukrainian community were an integral part of her life. She sang in the Ukrainian choir in Ohio. She supported her churches in Ohio and Arizona by taking part in festivals and raising money for various Ukrainian causes, including orphanages in Ukraine. Panakhyda (memorial service) with viewing at 6 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Monday, 29 May. Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m., 30 May, at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 715 W. Vanover Rd. Interment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, TN).
