Margaret was born on June 19, 1940 and a short time later was adopted by her parents in Bambridge, New York. Early on she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and the family moved to Tucson to provide a warmer climate for her. As a girl, she embraced the mission to convince others to see the individual, not the disability. Although wheelchair-bound, she traveled around on Handicar for over 40 years and clocked over 14,000 volunteer hours at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a Handicar “poster girl” and participated in helping them improve their service. Just 3 days before her hospitalization she was making her regular visit to Walmart.
Margaret was loved by everyone who knew her and an inspiration to us all. We will remember her quick wit, ever-present laughter and indominitable spirit, and know that she is dancing in heaven.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents and brother. She will be laid to rest on Friday, November 11 at 8:30 am at East Lawn Palms.
