Maria I. Hernandez Vargas

Maria Isabel Hernandez Vargas, 87 of Tucson Az, passed away May 23, 2024. Preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters, she is survived by her sons Roman Rascon, Robert Rascon Sr, Jose Santa Cruz, Gildardo Santa Cruz, Ricardo Santa Cruz and Julian Santa Cruz. Also survived by her sister Matilde Santa Cruz; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ms. Hernandez Vargas was born in Babasac, Sonora Mexico and has resided in Arizona for the past 67 years. She loved her family beyond words and was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Ms. Hernandez Vargas was a great cook and loved gardening, sewing and crocheting, other hobbies she enjoyed riding quads and horseback riding. She was a devout Catholic and a member of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Sahuarita Az.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a public visitation Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel-University, 7 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 9:00 AM, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 15440 S. Santa Rita Rd., Sahuarita, AZ 85629. Interment to follow in South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave., Tucson, AZ 85706. Arrangements by Funeraria Del Angel – University.
