January 2,1949- July 11, 2021 preceded death by her father and mother, Vernon and Margaret Shoemaker, her nephew Joseph and great- niece Ellilah. She is survived by her children, Christopher, Lindsey (Edward) and Michael (Janent); her grandchildren Abrianna (Arturo), Xavier, Tyler, Giovanni, Gianessa, and Liliana; her brother Vernon (Ginger) and her nieces and nephews. Marilyn was born in Monterey California and traveled the country while her father served in the United States Army. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1967 and went on to attend a career at NASA then moving into housing. In July of 2020 she retired after 25 years at the South Tucson Housing Authority where she served as Housing Director. She was an advocate for fair housing not only in Tucson but creating fair housing in the Untied States and didn’t mind voicing her opinion for what was right. Marilyn loved to travel especially to the beaches but her favorite was to go on cruises. She had a wonderful sense of humor and great energy and no matter where she went she made friends as people were attracted to her. That spirit helped her overcome health issues most recently beating breast cancer last year. She was a fighter! She loved her family tremendously and nothing made her happier than spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She will be missed tremendously and will forever be in our hearts. We love you mom.
Mass will be held for Marilyn on August 19, 2021 10:00 am- 12:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn.
