

Mary Helen Lara, a resident of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Tucson on March 7, 1948, Mary was a strong-willed matriarch with a tough exterior and a deep love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary graduated from Tucson High School and dedicated her career to special education within the Tucson Unified School District. She married Albert A. Lara on December 3, 1966, and together they built a family that was the center of her world.
In addition to her professional achievements, Mary was a talented professional cake baker and seamstress, known for her creativity and skill.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sara Rodriguez, her sister Carmen, her brothers Frank and Greg, her granddaughter Alexandria, and her great-grandson Izaac. She is survived by her husband Albert, her daughters Denise and Christina (Dan), her grandchildren Lysette (Dennis), Albert, and Joshua, and her great-grandchildren Mina and Izaiah.
Mary Helen Lara will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, her strength, and her vibrant presence in the lives of those she touched.
Services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025.
St Augustine Cathedral with the Rosary at 9:30am followed by a mass. Immediately following a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Veterans Post 7. 11:30am-3:30pm (330 W Franklin St).
