With deep love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of Orestes Mario “Larry” Trush, 77, of Tucson, Arizona, who passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at 5:20 a.m., surrounded by love.
Larry was the heart of his family steady, devoted, and endlessly giving. He lived a life defined by service, compassion, and quiet strength. Whether caring for those around him or simply sharing a laugh, he made everyone feel safe and valued.
A proud veteran, Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He continued his life of service with the Philadelphia Police Department, protecting and supporting his community for 20 years. After moving to Tucson in the late 1990s, he earned his degree from Arizona State University and went on to work for Child Protective Services for a decade, advocating for children in need before retiring. Even in retirement, his caring spirit never slowed down, even when he was able to, he lovingly volunteered his time rocking and comforting drug-affected babies, offering them the gentlest start in life.
Larry found peace and happiness in simple pleasures. He loved caring for horses, hiking Tumamoc Hill, and spending time outdoors under the Arizona sky. He also had a deep love of travel and adventure. After meeting the love of his life, Elaine, in 2021, the two married on a beautiful beach in Florida in 2022.
Together they explored the world, sharing unforgettable journeys to Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, and Bora Bora theses memories that will forever be treasured.
Above all, Larry was a family man. His greatest joy was being a husband, father, grandfather, and guiding presence to those he loved. His kindness, patience, and unwavering support shaped the lives of everyone around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Trush; his children Stephen Trush, Jesse (Ariel) Trush, and Angelina Trush; his cherished grandchildren Bentley Trush and Jaxon Trush; his stepdaughter Katerina Bohacek and her children Dylan (Nancy), Shyann, and Brayden, and also great-grandchild Elias; and stepson Panos Kassimatis and his children Lina and Sebastian. He also leaves behind countless friends and extended family who will miss his warm smile and gentle spirit.
Larry’s legacy is one of service, love, and compassion. The world is better because he was in it, and his memory will live on in every life he touched.
We will miss you Larry!
