Peggy Jo (Hoover) Drum was born April 19, 1938 in Ashville, OH to William and Alice Hoover. She graduated from Capital University with a degree in religious education. On August 12, 1962 she married William Drum, and that same day for their honeymoon they moved to Tucson, AZ. Bill and Peggy had two children (David and Doug,) six grandchildren (Michael, Amy, Daniel, Emily, Kylie, and Kelcie), and three great grandchildren (Luna, Robin, and Analia). In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she is survived by her brother Gary and his wife RuthAnn. After 57 years of marriage, Bill died on August 15, 2019. Peggy went to heaven on June 2, 2022 at the age of 84.
Peggy worked for Spanish Trail Lutheran Church as Director of Parish Ministries alongside Pastor Mark Reitan. Peggy was a lifelong Bible teacher, and deeply loved for her insights into the Word. She enjoyed various crafts, especially handmade cards with rubber stamps. She could be a ferocious Arizona Wildcat fan when the games were on television. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She loved being a Grandma and Great Grandma. She LOVED butterflies and had literally thousands of them in jewelry, fabric, and rubber stamps. Her love for butterflies was tied to their symbolic connection to Jesus’ resurrection, which she is now experiencing firsthand.
Peggy’s life will be celebrated on Monday, June 27, at 11:00 am at Desert Hope Lutheran Church, 7474 E Speedway (behind the townhomes). In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to J17 Ministries (J17ministries.org).
