Peter Henry Scott, Jr., 85, passed away on Sept. 15, 2025 following a brief stay in hospice care. Pete was born on August 15, 1940 in Rockland County, New York amid a very large extended family filled with aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins to his father Peter Henry Scott, Sr. and mother Phyllis Scott (Seeley). The family made the difficult decision to move to Tucson in 1955 due to the severe asthma of both his mother and younger sister Kathy, and ironically, it was COPD/emphysema that took his own life. Pete joined the U.S. Marine Reserves at a young age but had to take an early discharge due to a life-altering injury. He joined his father in Pete’s Plumbing where he worked until his father’s retirement, keeping that business afloat, supporting several families. He then landed what he called his dream job serving as the Director of Facilities for Arizona Health Services at the University of Arizona until his own retirement. Pete garnered a huge circle of friends due in large part to his many activities in bowling leagues, softball teams, and as an avid fisherman of both deep sea and lake fishing, let alone his Everybody Knows Your Name -type fellowship at a local bar. He established a second home in Cholla Bay, Sonora, Mexico where for a time he was president of the Cholla Bay Fisherman’s Club. In particular he loved taking family and friends to Apache and Roosevelt Lakes on rough and wild camping trips. Pete was predeceased by his parents, son Peter Andrew, and brother Edward. He is survived by his sister Kathy, Scott, daughter Christie Lee, wife Mary Brown-Scott grandchildren Brian, Stacy, (Nathan) and Jason (Brittany) and five great grandchildren with one more on the way. A celebration of life was held in his honor on Nov. 14, 2025.
