He was preceded in death by his parents, Jorge and Frances Tapia. He is survived by his loving wife Yolanda Tapia, his sons Rene Anthony Tapia Jr. and Jorge Cecilio Tapia and his daughter Marissa Lorraine Tapia. Rene is also survived by his grandchildren, Samuel Rene Tapia and Seyana Marie Tapia as well as his sisters, Erlinda Olague, Georgina Lee and Lorraine Obregon and many other friends and family.
Rene was raised with a strong work ethic and always worked hard at whatever job he held. He was also honest, respectful and was a good son to his mother Frances. It was these qualities that drew interest from his future wife Yolanda. They were married on April 11, 1969 and for the next 46 years, through thick and thin, they remained by each others side. Rene was also the proud parent of three children and took great pride in providing for his family. With Rene working as a heavy equipment operator for the Tucson Water department for 30 years, his family always had what they needed. But Rene provided more than just the necessities of life. Whether it was taking his family on outings and vacations, or just being at home with them, Rene valued spending quality time with his family. Anyone who knew Rene, knew of his love for a good steak- cooked medium rare over a mesquite fire. He loved making his home made salsa and sharing countless jars of salsa with others. He also loved playing the accordion. Many of his friends and family enjoy fond memories of his music and his fine BBQ skills at many gatherings throughout the years.
Above all these things though, was Rene’s love for his Grand Creator Jehovah. He symbolized his dedication to Jehovah through water baptism in 1985. Eventually serving as an elder, Rene worked hard at his responsibilities in the Sunnyside Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His spiritual brothers and sisters always appreciated his warm smile and handshake, greeting them as they entered the Kingdom Hall.
Rene firmly believed in the words found in the bible book of John 5: 28, 29 which reads,” Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life” Rene spent a good portion of his life sharing that promise with many others. And it is that promise that brings us great comfort during this difficult time. May the real hope of the resurrection, found in God’s word the bible, bring comfort to all of Rene’s loved ones, friends and family.
