

He is survived by his four children—Julia, Jason, Jonathan, and Joshua—and their mother, Linda. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Jonathan, Jared, Allie, Jacob, Adrian, Ethan, and Naomi; a great-granddaughter, Amelia; and his sister, JoAnn Patterson (Tom).
Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio, on September 26, 1946. He spent his childhood in Douglas, Arizona, where he made lifelong friends and enjoyed playing competitive sports, hunting, and building cars—passions that stayed with him throughout his life.
Bob dedicated 33 years of service to the Arizona Department of Corrections, retiring as a Lieutenant. Over the course of his career, he served at the Florence and Tucson complexes, as well as the Correctional Officer Training Academy. He was deeply committed to his work and held great respect for the colleagues he served alongside.
He was preceded in death by his father, William McNew; mother, Marie McNew; sister, Edna McConnell; and nephew, TJ McConnell.
A funeral service will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery on June 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM. All friends and family are welcome to attend. A short reception will follow the service and burial on site.
