Stephen P. Guertler went home unexpectedly to be with Jesus on December 28, 2024. He loved and shared life well, serving people wherever they were along their life’s journey—those on the island of Fedraey in Micronesia, coworkers, people in need, friends, and family.
He held material things loosely but cherished his relationships with people from all walks of life. Stephen’s light and life brightened people’s lives and demonstrated that loving and being loved are what ultimately matter. The love he shared will shine forever from our hearts, and he will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Catherine; his parents, Steve and Beth; brother, Luke; grandfather, Alex; nine uncles; eight aunts; twenty-two cousins; and many extended family members.
There is a verse in Stephen’s favorite book of the Bible that says, “I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you” (Job 42:5). We thank God for Stephen’s life and that now, he sees Jesus face-to-face.
