Trina was born in Hagerstown, MD, the only child of Ruth Kuhn and Adrian Landis. She graduated from South High and Hagerstown CC. She performed in stage plays in Hagerstown and was runner-up in Miss Hagerstown beauty pageant.
After working for Mack Truck in Hagerstown, she relocated to Washington, DC. There she married her first husband and became a Realtor licensed in VA and Washington, DC. After the end of her 10-year marriage, Trina became quite the globetrotter and developed many life long friendships through her travels. It was while attending a party of a friend that Trina met her future husband of 30 Years, Hank Mickells. As Hank likes to tell the story, the party began small and subdued when the patio door slid open and this vivacious blonde made a grand entrance, declaring that she was the entertainment for the night. Upon which Hank stated that she was The One for him. True to his word, Trina and Hank were married on the East Coast in 1995 where they stayed before heading West in 2000.
After retiring in 2000, they moved to Tucson, AZ where they lived in the beautiful Catalina Mountain Foothills. Trina being the more adventurous of the two she lead them on many travels both in the US and abroad creating a lifetime of memories. Her diagnosis of Alzheimer's brought a new chapter and a 2023 move to a senior living facility in Tucson, where caregivers helped the pair navigate the challenges of this disease. On Tuesday 3/25, Trina succumbed to and peacefully passed away while Hank was holding her hand, together to the end.
Trina will be remembered for her quick wit, wonderful personality, and being a friend to all she met. She will be interred at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
