Walter (Walt) Max Seagrave born in Losantville Indiana on September 13,1929. His parents James and Maymie Seagrave both ministers. Walter had four brothers Birdy, Wallace, Warren and Dorvan. Even though there was years between the brothers they were close. Especially Dorvan Seagrave. Dorvan had a daughter Connie Schad. Walter was fond of Connie and likewise of him.
Walter served in the Air Force 20 years. While stationed in Tucson Az he met and married Arminda (Tiehen) my mother in 1969. In 1970 their daughter Susan Diane Seagrave was born. He would often say his life is full of pride and love for his wife and daughter. They loved and praised him. Arminda and Walter celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2019. The following year Arminda passed away.
Walter is survived by his daughter Susan and beloved family pet Bella Sue. His niece Connie (George) Schad and three children. 1st son Benjamin (Vivian) Schad and two children Bronson (Lauren) and recently born Rome. Their other son is Andrew George. Connie’s 2nd son Andrew Dorvan(Rebecca) and their three daughters Faith, Grace and Bethany. Also, daughter Jennifer (Daniel) Piedra and her son Joshua. He survived by niece Carol (Mark) Hart from his wife’s side. Also survived by two sisters in law Martha (Warren) Seagrave and Mary (James “Bud”) Tiehen and her three daughters Dawn Wake, Debbie (Matt) Smith and Cindy (Oliver) Rokoff. Numerous other nieces and nephews.
Walter also worked for Tucson Unified Schools District for almost 20 years and retired. In his spare time, he decided to work for H&R Block part time for several years. His hobbies included golf, bowling and watching the U of A sports.
Walter had a huge heart for others. That saying “He wore his heart on his sleeve” was true for him. I believe it was his Christian upbringing that gave him that gift. He was a member of Catalina United Methodist Church for many decades.
On January 26, 2025 he passed away peacefully with his daughter Susan and Bella Sue the family pet by his side at Peppi’s House.
The Military Honors Ceremony will be held on February 11, 2025 at 1:30pm graveside.
