

Alan Wayne Bruesch left this life on October 14, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on August 23, 1945 in Rupert, Idaho to William and Virginia Bruesch. He lived his entire childhood on the Bruesch Ranch in Almo, Idaho. Alan graduated from Raft River High School in 1963 followed by attending University of Idaho and obtaining his Civil Engineering Degree in 1968.
Alan began his career with the Washington State Department of Transportation as a Bridge Engineer where he designed many bridges, most notably, the Lacey V. Murrow Replacement Floating Bridge. Alan dedicated 30 years to the citizens of Washington, retiring in 1997.
After retirement, Alan and Kandy split their time between Olympia and Almo. Kandy often said Al was happiest when he was working on the ranch.
Alan was preceded in death by his daughter Lori Kay Mitchell, and survived by his wife of 46 years, Kandy Kink Bruesch; daughter, Tiffany (Ryan) Johnston; granddaughter, Jamie Johnston; grandchildren Connor and Rylee Mitchell; brother, Richard Bruesch (Bettina Rosenberg); sister Janet (Jim) Powers. In addition, sister-in-law Kristal (Greg) Kessel, nephews Chase and Chaz Poston, nephew John Bruesch, and nieces Lynn Sindorf and Amy Lander Wiberg.
Al loved working with his hands. From beautiful gardens to wood and metal work. He would create the most amazing gifts. He could fix anything and was always there to help with any project for family and friends.
Al will be remembered as a quiet, caring, loving man who was always there to lend a hand. He lived his life with intelligence and honesty. His kindness matched no other.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at noon located at Mills and Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park 5725 Littlerock Rd SW Tumwater, WA. Guests are welcome to wear jeans and plaid in Alan's honor. His ashes will be laid to rest in Almo, Idaho in the Spring of 2024.
