Alexander Scott McCullough, who had just turned 67, unexpectedly and suddenly passed from this world on the afternoon of May 05, 2021. There are no words that can even begin to express the depth of sorrow, loss and shock that we feel due to the loss of our beloved family member and friend,
Alexander Scott McCullough, aka Scott, Scotty
Yet, when it comes to attempting to sum up his life, to describing who he was and what he meant to each of us, it seems there are not enough words. We could write volumes and still not fully describe his life and nature, nor capture the true essence of his being.
What stands out foremost is the legacy of love and charity that Scott left behind.
Scott was one of the kindest, most tender and sensitive souls to walk this earth. He lived his life from his heart, which was an open door that radiated unconditional love and generosity to all people.
He was a people person, and he was happiest when he had friends and family (which included his 3 cats, BabyDoo, Goofball and Tux) around him. He was always right there to help a friend, (or stranger) in need; and he loved to take friends out to dinner or make them dinner, crack jokes, sit in his hot tub, or just hang out and drink a few beers with friends. He never lost his desire or the spirit to create and experience innocent adventure and play.
He had many and varied interests, hobbies and talents. Just to name a few, he was gymnast, carpenter, backhoe operator, car mechanic, lover of music and a dedicated father and family man. He collected all sorts of new and used tools and gadgets, appliances, and items he reclaimed from remodeling jobs or construction sites that he would refurbish or reuse in some way. He was always tinkering around, repairing, creating and inventing something. He could build just about anything, and you can be sure that whatever he built, always bore his mark of excellent craftmanship. He was a carpenter extraordinaire!
From the time he was a young man, he had a passion for fast cars. One of his first cars was a blue GTO. Oh, the stories some of us could share about his wild adolescent days in fast cars! He especially loved race cars and going to the races with friends and family; or if going to the races was not an option, he would watch them on TV. And he loved going with friends and/or family out into the mountains and woods to ride and race around on dirt bikes.
Sadly, as is often the case in this life, his body developed some very serious health conditions that were irreversible. Because of these health conditions and the medications he had to take to manage them, he often did not feel well, in fact some days he was critically ill. But he never complained or gave in to self-pity or gave up. He just kept on living and giving and loving to his fullest, right up until the very moment he left this world.
Beneath all of his outward appearances of a fun-loving, and ok, a bit wild and dare-devilish guy, was a very sensitive and spiritual side of Scott. He had a very strong spiritual conviction and carried a knowing and wisdom within that could come only from his deep connection with God. He regularly attended Christian services and read and studied the bible and scriptures daily. His profound faith in God, Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit gave him great solace, strength and direction. He embraced and lived the teachings of Jesus the Christ, his Savior, who came on the afternoon of May 5, 2021, to take him to his celestial home.
Cherished memories of Scott, and the legacy of his love and charity will live on in our hearts forever.
