

On September 25, 2014, Alton M. "Bud" Morrison, 83, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. Bud was born in Viborg, South Dakota to Amanda and Miller Morrison on December 2, 1930. He attended school in Yankton, South Dakota. He served in the US Army 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany. He married Hilda S. Schaeffer in 1954. They were married for 42 years and had three children, Rose, Rodney and Debra. He was an Ironworker and worked on numerous job across the country until his retirement in 1991. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, later his interests moved to golfing, gardening, reading, watching the Mariners, eating at Izzy's, but mostly he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hilda, his son Rodney and his sisters Milly and Beverly.
After Hilda's passing in 1996, he met a wonderful companion in Shirley Wheelock, with whom he had a very happy life until his passing.
He is survived by his daughter Rose Morrison (David Sparling), his daughter Debra Morrison of Olympia; his companion Shirley Wheelock and her daughter Alaine Johnson (Casey) and their son Matt of Olympia; five grandchildren: Mike, Emily, Lesa, Amanda and Jaime; six great-grandchildren with one on the way: Vantage, Cayenne, Cecilia, Silas, Brooklyn and Stirling; his brother Roger Nelson of Thornton, Colorado; his sisters: Cleo Kubal of New Cany, Texas, Bonnie Plooster of Piedmont, South Dakota, Sharon Wambolt of Gering, Nebraska, Shirley Pinkhinke of Sioux City, Iowa, and Cynthia Francis of Los Angeles, California. He will be missed by so many friends and family.
