Carole Deane Shoop, 87, of Olympia, Washington, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Black Lake Adult Care Home. She was born December 4, 1933 in Olympia to Dwight and Bertha Carper. Carole attended the McLane elementary and secondary schools, and graduated from Olympia High School in 1952.
She worked over 15 years as a telephone switchboard operator for Pacific Northwest Bell. Carole married Richard (Dick) H. Shoop, an identical twin, in 1956. Carole and Dick had two daughters, Susie and Krystal. Carole enjoyed spending time with her family, long talks on the telephone, shopping, reading, walking, going to concerts and musical theater productions. Her great love was animals of all kinds, especially cats. Carole’s last two kitties, brother Jett and sister Carmen, were her pride and joy! For 10 years Carole and Krystal operated a pet sitting service called “Susie’s Zoo” for cats and dogs.
Carole and Dick were kind enough to offer part of their home for Krystal’s Vocal Studio business for over 25 years. There was a lot of joy, love, laughter, and music that filled the household. In 1993, Carole gained a son-in-law when Krystal married Kurt A. Hardin, and together they set out on their new life adventure. After her husband Dick passed away in May of 1999, Carole and Susie kept going strong with the daily activities of life.
Blessed Susie passed away in June, 2003, which left a great void in Carole’s life. In 2012, Carole became a Grandmother to her only granddaughter, Sabrina. Grandma Carole was very eager to take on this exciting new role in her life as she and Sabrina became quite the team.
Carole moved into the Black Lake Adult Care Home in August 2015 where she had excellent care from owners Paul and Ramona Edwards, to whom we are all so grateful. Carole is survived by her daughter Krystal K. Shoop-Hardin, son-in-law Kurt A. Hardin, and granddaughter Sabrina. The family invites you to celebrate Carole’s life on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Mills and Mills Memorial Park, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, Washington 98512. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, and Graveside Service at 2:00 pm. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Feline Friends of Olympia, or any animal charity of your choice.
