It was a cold day in Hitchcock, South Dakota, that January 3rd, in 1932 when Charlie was born. You have to know it had to be windy and snowy, (ya u’betcha). However, his parents Roy and Leola Larson had decided to name him Charles Peter Larson.
He had four sisters and five brothers. The larger the family, the warmer it got, especially at night when all the brothers slept together in one bed, as told by Charlie.
He married at an early age in northern Minnesota, and now has six children: Gary, Jeff, Randy, Mona, Susan and Linda. All living and doing well in all parts of the country. He was very active despite the cold! (Or it was because of the cold!!)
Later in his life, he married Lola on July 16, 1994. A wonderful woman that he really had a lot of fun with and inherited five step-children: Steve, Chuck, Doug, Teresa, and Lisa, a great family that took him in as dad and grandpa.
He has oodles of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are just too many to name in this allotted space.
Charlie worked as a cabinet maker and a carpenter for a majority of his life. He loved working in his shop and made many beautiful pieces of furniture, tables and wood items.
His last big project was making picture frames of all the past presidents of the Land Yacht RV Park in Lacey, Wa.
Charlie and Lola traveled all over the United States in their various types of RVs. He was so proud to have made it to 46 states. He always said I can live cheaper on the road than I can at home. But he always went home to collect his retirement check!!
Charlie was somewhat of a quiet person emotionally, but was very proud of all his family and what they do. It was just hard for him to express it.
He would have been very happy to have seen you all here today. Just don’t make a big deal about it!
