On Sunday, May 14, 2023, Charlotte (Char) Louise Kilde, reunited with family and friends in Heaven. She was born October 19, 1925, in Everett, Washington, to Charles and Dora Wells. Char was a loving wife, mother and friend.
She graduated from Olympia High School in 1943. Her dream was to become a fashion designer in Paris, but that changed when she spent time after school, with her mother, making bandages for injured soldiers in World War II. She enrolled in St. Peter Hospital's nurse training school from 1943-1946 and received her certification as a registered nurse. In early 1970, she worked for the State of Washington from which she retired.
On February 6, 1946, she married the love of her life, Bill Kilde. They had many wonderful years of raising their girls, Susan Johnson and Sandra Leighton (James), traveling, being with friends, and spending weekends on their boat. Bill passed away in 1989.
Char continued to travel on her own until she met Johnny Johnston in 2002. Johnny also liked to travel, so they flew and cruised to many places. It was fun to hear their stories and see the pictures when they returned.
Char is survived by her daughters, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Gilbert Wells.
We give thanks to Gerry Care Adult Home, their caregivers and residents, and Hospice for the love and support they gave Char. We also give a special thank you to Kim Stamey; Doug and Nancy Johnston and their family for being there for her. She loved you all.
At her request, there will be no service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Home.
