Edward Jakob "Jake" Wright was born to James and Elizabeth Wright on March 25, 1951, in Vienna, Austria. Jake attended various schools in the United States and Europe, depending upon where his father was stationed. The Army brought the family to Fort Lewis as Mr. Wright's final assignment. Having served 20 years in the Army, his father was discharged and the family settled in Olympia, Washington. In 1970 Jake graduated from North Thurston High School in Olympia.
Jake loved to draw and became very skilled at capturing the beauty around him. Music was an important part of his life. At around the age of 12 he made his first guitar out of materials on hand. His parents finally realized his determination to learn to play the instrument and bought him his first guitar. Being devoted to becoming a skillful guitar player, he spent many long hours in his room practicing and writing music. Soon after high school graduation, he began playing music with other musicians and during the 1970s began playing at clubs and night spots in the Olympia and surrounding areas, as the lead guitarist in various bands. One of these bands was called Spectrum, and some of their performances can still be found on Youtube.com...
Jake continued honing his skills and he with one of his bands eventually experienced being the opening band on the concert level. He mostly played various forms of rock music, however, at one point played in a country band.
In the early 70s Jake married his first wife, Etta. After a few years, that marriage ended in divorce.
While playing in California, he met Debbie Rubadue, who became his second wife and mother of his only child. Aaron Jakob Wright was born on April 26, 1980. During their marriage, Jake began a new career path, taking jobs that kept him closer to home and family. During this time, he also accepted Jesus as his savior, being influenced by Debbie and her family's Christian background. The couple later divorced.
In 1986 he began attending Victory Christian Center, where Jake met Dixie James. He began playing in the church's orchestra and at times Dixie played the piano for the church. They married on July 2, 1988. During the 1990s Jake discovered he loved being a car salesman and retired from that occupation in approximately 2014 due to declining health. Jake and Dixie celebrated their 34th anniversary in July 2022.
Jake is survived by his wife, Dixie Wright, his son Aaron Wright, his daughter-in-law Krissy Wright, grandchildren, Noah and Nai'a Wright as well as his stepson Tad, his wife Lisa Jensen, granddaughter, Shaylynn Jensen Owens, her husband Caleb Owens, and granddaughter Gracie Jensen.
Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 19136 Loganberry Street SW, Rochester WA on Sunday, October 16th at 1:00 pm.
