

Elizabeth V. Hazard was born on Feb 23, 1924 in Satsop Washington to Godfrey and Mary Studer. She grew up in Satsop as one of ten children who worked on their own dairy farm. In 1944, she married Walt Scherr and they had two sons; David G. Scherr and Donald V. Scherr. They divorced in 1952. She worked at the Evergreen Ball Room and drove school bus for Tumwater School for about 4 years.
Throughout her years of raising her boys; her home was always open to their friends, therefore making her a second mom to many other children. She was very supportive of Dave and Don in their school and sports. She often would take other children camping or to the fair.
She became employed with the State of Washington in the late 50's and continued to work there until she retired. This is where she met Wilbur (Bill) Hazard and they married on June 28, 1972. In retirement they enjoyed traveling around the country. Each had their own motorcycle and made many memorable motorcycle trips across the country and a motor home trip to Alaska. Over the course of their marriage, they built two homes together.
Liz was an avid seamstress, quilter, painter and had a love for her garden and flowers. If you were blessed enough in your lifetime to know Liz, then you probably received something she made with her many talents.
Liz passed away on July 24, 2011 at 87 years old. She is survived by her son, Don V. Scherr; two granddaughters, Tara J. (Scherr) Anthis and Morgan E. Scherr; six great grandchildren and Wilbur Hazards children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Hazard and son David G. Scherr.
