Born at Elizabethtal, Russia November 8, 1920; died at home August 30, 2010, in Yelm, Washington. Her parents, Cornelius and Elizabeth Baerg, persecuted by the communists for pacifist religious beliefs, emigrated to Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, Canada. Elizabeth grew up in Coaldale, Lethbridge, and Vauxhall, Alberta with brother Jacob, sisters Annie, Mary, Martha, Margaret, Laura and Elfreda.
She met Wayne Shave of Seattle, Washington while working in Vancouver, British Columbia and they married on her birthday in 1947. They lived in Billings, Montana, Yakima, Kennewick, Seattle, Olympia and Tumwater, Washington, and built a family: Donald (Mal), Philip, Eldon, and Kathleen.
Called Betty by her family, she took pleasure in reading, flower gardening and painting. Always active in church, she attended Free Methodist and First Baptist churches in Olympia.
After Wayne's retirement they traveled to New York, London, Alaska, Hawaii and the Canary Islands.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne Shave, children Donald, Philip, Eldon and Kathleen Anderson, sisters Martha Rempel, Margaret Rempel, Laura Klassen and Elfreda Traber.
Services will be held at Mills & Mills Memorial Park, Tumwater, Washington, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
