

Frances May Stone was born in Virgil, South Dakota to Caroline Agnes McCume and John Aurthur Neumeyer on May 7, 1919. Frances was educated in a little white school house with 10 other children. She graduated high school in Wessington Springs, South Dakota and enjoyed her school year friends.
Frances married Kermit Stone in Missouri Valley, Iowa on April 23, 1941. They lived in Omaha, then Belair, Nebraska, before moving to Yakima, Washington.
Frances and Kermit raised 4 children, Karen Schneider, Caroline Bullock, Rocky Stone and Keith Stone. They had 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit, two sisters, Doris Taft and Marie Wilson, and one brother, Cleo Neumeyer.
Her hobbies included sledding in the snow, riding her pony to school and racing them on Saturdays with her brother and cousin in South Dakota. She also liked to embroidery tea towels, paint table cloths and make funny things for her great-grandchildren for Christmas. She tried to take care of her health.
Frances worked for Del Monte in Yakima, Washington, packing our big red delicious apples to be delivered to different parts of the world. She also worked at Yakima Fruit Packing and Saint Elizabeth Hospital.
They moved to Olympia, Washington in 1987. Frances volunteered at the Olympia Senior Center for 39 years, helping serve the food and wherever she could. She enjoyed all the friends she met there for many years. In their retirement years, she and Kermit enjoyed trips to Iowa, going out to lunch and sitting in the yard talking and having time together.
Frances' faith in God had kept her strong. She enjoyed volunteering at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Yakima.
Services will be held at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Olympia, Washington on Monday, August 25, 2014. Visitation will be at 11:00 am to 12:00 noon with the Funeral Mass to begin at 12:00 pm. Graveside Committal with be in Calvary Cemetery, Tumwater, Washington at 2:00 pm followed by a reception at the family residence, 324 Hazelhurst Drive SE, Tumwater, Washington 98501.
