

Gerry Franklin Haag was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Gerald was born on January 11, 1955 at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, WA. He was the son of Gene and Marlou Haag. Gerald grew up in Olympia, WA.
Gerald was raised with three siblings. He had two older sisters, Diana and Cyndie, and one younger brother, Tom. Gerald was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Gerald had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Gerald was an active child who took part in baseball, swimming, fishing, and riding a dirt bike. In his spare time he liked playing baseball, cars, and swimming. However, to Gerald, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, Gerald enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best friends were Rick and Butch. Later in life, everyone that Gerry knew was a friend to him.
Gerald worked hard to be a good father to his child and he did his best to fulfill her needs. Gerald was blessed with one daughter, Jessica. Another blessing for Gerald was the gift of one granddaughter, Serra.
Gerald enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were watching movies, playing with his dogs Prinny and Scooby, cooking, and rock and roll. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Gerald was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. His favorites were Prinny and Scooby, both mixed breeds. They were best friends for 14 years for Prinny and 8 years for Scooby.
Gerald passed away on January 15, 2010 at home in Olympia, WA. Gerry died unexpectedly of other than natural causes. He is survived by sisters Diana and Cyndie, brother Tom, daughter Jessica, and granddaughter Serra. Services were held at Mills and Mills Funeral Home. Gerald was laid to rest in Mills and Mills Memorial Park in Tumwater, WA.
Simply stated, Gerald was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gerald leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Gerry Franklin Haag.
