

Helen Marie Burns died August 1st 2013 at Panorama City Convalescent center. Helen was born on July 20th 1930 in Tacoma WA to Darwin and Elizabeth Jones, she was the youngest of 9 children. The Family moved to East Olympia in 1933. Helen attended East Olympia Elementary school as well as Olympia High School and the Deity & Hubbard Business College. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Peck as well as for Remington-Rand and the National Bank of Commerce. Helen married Jack Burns on January 8 1954. They raised two sons, Roy and Tom Burns. Jack and Helen owned the Minute Market store in South Bay, as well as the Wayside Market on Olympia’s West Side. They also operated Olympia Wholesale together for many years. Helen was also employed at the Treasure Chest on the West Side. Helen enjoyed working, keeping busy and loving Grand kids.
Helen and Jack were married for 40 years before Jack passed away in 1994. Helen is also preceded in death by her parents as well as her 8 siblings and their spouses as well as a Step Daughter Lynn Karn. She is survived by her sons Roy and Tom and their wives as well as 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. She prided herself as being a care giver, she was loved and will be missed by all. The memorial service for Helen will be held on Friday, August 23rd at 1:00 pm at Mills and Mills.
