

Iris M. Penn born April 25 1922 died peacefully on October 7, 2021. Iris was born in Bucoda Washington to May (Bunch) Furlong and Ivan W. Furlong. She was preceded in death by her 7 siblings, her oldest son Robert Lee Mason and her youngest son Chris W. Anderson. She is survivved by her two daughters Susan M. Mason and Corinne L. Mason, four grandchildren Terri Maloney, Mark Mason, Debbie Mason and Kevin Mason, 6 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson, as well as a number of nices and nephews.
Iris started her working career at the Fort Lewis Photo shop in 1942-1943. In 1943 She moved to the HighGloss Photo Gallary in Tacoma Washington, where she stayed until 1945. In 1951She started work with the State Of Washington Highways Department as an IBM Key Punch Operator. lris would go on to hold many different positions with the Department of Transportation (as it would latter be called). She retired from state service in 1981.
After retirement, Iris, involved her self in many volunteer activities in the community. She helped serve food at the Salvation Army, and assist with many services at the Mother Joesph Care Center. One of her favorite services was providing live in foster care to youth who were struggling at home, and had been assigned to Community Youth Services in Olympia. Several children would come and go through her home where she provided a safe and stable enviroment for them.
