Jim was born to Drew Edward Allsup and Francis Alberta Reedy on May 26, 1929 in Cleveland Missouri. He attended school in Cleveland, Missouri where he played high school sports and met his high school sweetheart Lois F. Masterson. They were married on January 1, 1950 and celebrated 67 years together until her passing on January 1, 2017. The newlywed couple settled in the Olympia area in early 1951. Beloved father of four children, Gary (Judy) Allsup, Randy (Lori) Allsup, Sherri (David) Clarke and Shelly (Luke) Long, all residing in the greater Olympia area. Jim was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Jim & Lois both loved to travel upon his retirement in 1990 from truck driving. He drove trucks for Santry Trucking, Market Transport and his son Randy, owner of Washington Logistics. The mention of retirement travel always captured their attention, especially when it involved their Airstream RV. They were members of the Wandering Olympia Wagons, a local RV club that traveled the great northwest meeting monthly at various locations. As members of the Washington Unit and National Airstream Clubs, they traveled United States exposing themselves to new adventures and making travel friends. Eventually that love of travel changed to "snow birding" as they explored the southwestern US, settling into Yuma around 1989. When the forecast for Olympia shifted to rain and cold weather, that signaled the time to head south to Yuma. Likewise in Yuma, when the spring temperature hit triple digits, it was time to head home to Olympia.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, attending grandchildren's sports games and attending/watching Mariner’s baseball. In recent years, attending the Parshall semi-annual extended family reunions was a highlight.
The love and enjoyment of country music was always in his heart. Jim was an avid horseshoe player in Yuma. He founded the SWARM (Superior Women and Real Men) bicycle group for daily group rides around the Bonita Mesa RV Park. Many a bicycle was kept well maintained by him for the riding group. Jim loved the air billowing over him when upon a motorcycle, even in his later years, he rode a three-wheel Goldwing motorcycle.
He will be missed greatly by all.
