

James Taylor Cunning died Nov 24. He was 56. His parents were Ray (deceased) and Rosemary Cunning. He is survived by his daughter Rachael Sollinger; his mother, Rosemary Stark; ex-wife Cindy Cunning; his friend Darla Ritter and his siblings; Loris (Russ) Gies; Jerry (Marylu) Cunning; Judi (Bill) Kennedy; Bill (Allison); Carole (Dan) Rees; Dan (Kim) Cunning. His brother Paul (Joyce) predeceased him.
Jim attended East Olympia Grade School and graduated from Tumwater High School. He served in the US Army in Germany. After returning home from the service, Jim attended both Centralia College and Wenatchee Valley Community College. Jim was an expert carpenter specializing in framing and concrete work. He owned JC Construction.
He lived and worked in Alaska for several years with his brother Paul. Jim also worked in both the Wenatchee and Olympia areas.
Jim played guitar. He played with a few bands in high school and enjoyed “jamming out” his entire life.
He was a computer whiz and spent many hours online. He was also an artist. He enjoyed fishing and hunting even when his vision became limited and he had to use a handicap license. He liked a good game of cards with family and friends.
Jim was a quiet, thoughtful man. He was gentle and kind to all who knew him.
Memorial service is FRI Dec 3 at 2:30 PM at Mills & Mills Tumwater. Potluck reception to follow.
