Jane L. Elder Jane Elder, 80, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at her home in Tumwater -- her family by her side. Jane was born October 30, 1931 in Bellingham, WA. to Dr. William J. Lightburne and Jean Alexandra Montgomery. Jane was preceded in death by her brother, John Lightburne and her husband, John Albert Elder. She is survived by her four children: Liz Newport, Lacey, WA; Deborah Forth, Prescott, AZ; Earle D. Thompson III, Olympia, WA; and Monte Thompson, Bellingham, WA. Three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Jane spent countless hours planting, nurturing and maintaining her lovely garden. Passer byes were always complimentary and often amazed with her remarkable yard of native and exotic flowering plants and trees. Yet the time and dedication Jane gave to her garden was small when compared to the love and attention she so freely gave to her family and friends. Jane had a clear sense of herself and her place in this world. For the past 23 years, she was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. AA was a perfect fit for someone who cared so very much about the welfare of others. The years since beginning her life in "recovery" were the very best years of her life. A Celebration of Life will be held at Olympia Alamo Club, Sun. Feb. 26, 2012 at 1:30. The family request donations be made to Providence Sound Home Care and Hospice.
