John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Born: April 19th 1986
On April 9th our beloved Jonny passed away suddenly from this life into the loving arms of his Loving Savior Jesus Christ.
From the moment he was born, Jonny had a zest for living and love for life that followed him all through his short time on earth. His hair raising rides on his hot-wheels through the neighborhood, barreling down the steep drive to Nana’s and Papa’s house, then skidding to a stop just short of disaster were legendary.
He loved being a big brother and camp counselor to a succession of Vacation Bible School campers and was proud to be one of Summer Hummer’s most loved counselors. He loved recounting tales with his many friends, about travels in Ireland, Europe and New England, and then onto his adventurous skiing and bartending expeditions in Vail and Park City; our beloved Jonny lived life to the fullest. Along the way he befriended many wonderful people from all walks of life, with a loving spirit and an ear that was always willing to listen and not judge, in return he received their love and became their friend.
Jonny attended Capital High School and played football and soccer for his beloved Cougars; he earned his sommelier certificate and was headed towards a career in wine service and education. He loved camping, swimming and skiing. But mostly he loved people and story-telling and having as much fun as possible. From his employers and coworkers we learned that his work ethic was an example to all and in addition to working hard he made sure to emphasize the importance of a positive disposition and appreciating each person and each moment. As his sister Abby would say “he loved everything”.
Jonny loved his family; his beloved sister Abby (his go-to person who always took care of him), big brother Patrick, he so loved and looked up to and his baby brother Joey, whom he loved and was so proud of. He also loved Mom, who was always there for him no matter what and cherished every time together, and Dad; he called us regularly to see how we were doing and his much precious Nana and Papa. His nephews (Christopher, Rory, Mason and Jesse) and beautiful niece (Cooper Ann) were a constant source of joy to him and he loved nothing more than spending time in their company, playing with them. Of course, Jonny also loved all his Irish, American and Canadian Family members, Meta, Aunts, Uncles and cousins and reveled in his Irish citizenship with passport to prove it. Jonny had a unique love for all his family and it was borne-out through his constant desire to hold each one of us close in his heart. Jonny, we eagerly wait, knowing we will see you again; meanwhile we hold you deeply in our hearts and love you deeply forever. Philippians 1:7 “...Because I have you in my heart”
Finally, Jonny loved Jesus and would frequently say “I know, God’s got-me; remember Dad, it’s by grace not by works”. Beloved Jonny we feel the warmth of your award winning smile shining down on us from Heaven.
2 Timothy 1:12 “For I know whom I have believed in and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day”
Due to COVID-19 there will be a Celebration of Life scheduled at a later time.
