

Karen H. Olson, 70, of Olympia died September 1, 2014 in Olympia at Providence Mother Joseph's Care Center. Karen was born December 22, 1943 in Duluth, MN. She spent her childhood there with her parents, John and Margaret Bertrand and older brother, Jack.
At age 18, she married and moved to Washington where she had two daughters, Kathyrn and Cynthia. After her first marriage, Karen went back to school, earning her teaching degree. Most of Karen's career was at Madison Elementary School. Karen's passion was teaching. She enjoyed the challenge and took pride in sharing knowldge with young people. Every year she made a difference in someone's life.
After time Karen found a new love and soon married Rodney Olson. With this marriage, brought a new bright extension to her family, adding three children and many grandchildren. Karen was always there to lend a hand and the first to volunteer for anything. She had a gift for seeing potential in others and did her best to bring it out. Karen never gave up. Besides her love of teaching, Karen also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting, baking and traveling. Karen has touched many of us throughout the years with her wisdom, kindness, and courage.
She leaves behind a loving husband; two daughters; grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and many, many friends. Karen will be missed greatly by all that knew her.
A memorial service will be held to enjoy the memories of Karen at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1601 North St SE, Olympia on Saturday, September 13, 2014, 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
